Does Size Really Matter ?
Well it all depends on which angle you are looking at ?
As the World Cup has been dominating the headlines, the debate has also suffered as to what I should watch it on.
Should I go for a Plasma Screens or Should I go for an LCD Screen ?
What Size should I opt for, should I have HD, what about burn in, what about the gas, what about the lamps, etc
So not only should size be looked into but also ensuring quality does not suffer in the process.
Why am I go into this, you may ask.
Well I was in a very fortunate position to receive a 42" Plasma screen for free as part of a new business I had started which the company are still very generous in offering new joiners. For information on this feel free to contact me.
Anyhow I had selected a Hitachi 42PD7200 Plasma TV screen as shown
Well as fate would have it this turned out to be the same screen to one we had at work and kept on most of the time for Video Conferencing.
Now here comes the bomb shell! When I looked at the the screen I noticed horrible burn-in (this is what happens if an image is left fixed in one position too long), so I quickly made a call on the morning of delivery to change it for a Sony 50FDE50A12 Rear-Projector LCD screen s shown
So I have been fortunate to be given the choice of two different screens to enjoy the World Cup on and all I can say is I will have to wait for my HD box to be available before I can take advantage of my box.
The Sony is huge and has great picture quality but you need to be in a good viewing distance to appreciate this unlike plasma's where you have a wider viewing angle.
My main concern of burn in seems to be handled by Samsung's latest range so it may be a thing of the past but I didn't want to take no risks on this.
So in conclusion I went for size but did not want to loose out on quality.
The Sony Rear Projector Screen is excellent value and makes a big impression on any household. LCD's are rising in popularity and are great to wall mount , just like Plasma's off course.
Bottom line it all comes down to your preference, how much space you got to play with and how deep your pocket is!
